Convolute bedding and associated slump structures in Silurian strata of central Wales are described, and their mode of formation compared. The differences between convolute bedding formed by deposition from turbidity currents and true slumping, that is, movement of sediment after deposition, and the fact that both occur in the Welsh basin are emphasized. Directional features are rare, but the few available indicate sediment movement to the west-northwest.
