Zoned bodies in the serpentinite intruding the Moine series at Glen Urquhart, western Scotland, are considered to be the result of hydrothermal activity associated with the Older Granite. The mineralogy and petrology of these occurrences are described, and they are compared to albititic deposits, particularly those in northeastern Transvaal, South Africa. It is suggested that albitite deposits originate where hydrothermal solutions from granites cut ultrabasic rocks.
