On the Isle of Man, in the Irish sea, three metamorphic facies are present--green schist facies (including the biotite-chlorite subfacies which accounts for the greater part of the slates), albite-epidote amphibolite facies, and amphibolite facies. In addition to the metamorphic minerals previously reported, cordierite and staurolite have been identified. The Mn content of the garnets has also been investigated. The relation of metamorphism to movement, hydrothermal activity, and the underlying granite is discussed.
