Occurrences of rhythmic banding noted in Great Britain are rare. The banded rocks near Huntly, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, are magnificently displayed in a large new quarry. They range in thickness from many feet down to less than an inch, and their mineral variations render them especially conspicuous. The attitude of the bands clearly shows that the rocks are overturned.
