The relations of the granite to the intruded rock are variable. Three main situations are recognized: small intruded masses with little or no assimilation or contact metamorphism, batholiths with much assimilation and thermal metamorphism, and migmatites and gneisses with intense assimilation and metamorphism. All three are demonstrated in this area.
