The British chloride waters are found chiefly in the upper Carboniferous Coal Measures, often in the lower Carboniferous, and more rarely in Devonian Old Red sandstone and Silurian strata. The brines, mixtures of sodium and calcium chloride, contain up to 16.1 percent salinity. Tables of chemical analyses are given.
