A new species, Aschemonella longicaudata, occurs in the foraminiferal fauna of the lower Permian marls found in the Lowpit Lane boring at Hodthrope, Derbyshire, northern England. The fauna also contains Agathammina pusilla as the dominant species, accompanied by species of Dentalina, Ammodiscus, Nodosaria, Stacheia, and Textularia. Although the test of A. longiaudata is a separate chamber, there is evidence that the species may have occurred in life with several chambers joined linearly.
