A graphitic schist horizon in the Connemara schists in Cornamona, western Ireland, contains a graphitic marble that shows a texture of possible organic origin. The texture consists of a network of graphite and calcite, the "holes" having diameters of but 0.1-0.2 mm. Possible interpretations are considered, including that of inorganic origin.
