A possible extension of the Ratagan igneous complex, Wester Ross and Inverness-shire

T. J. Dhonau

An intrusion of red, medium-grained granodiorite and adamellite occurs at Glen Lichd, near Invershiel in western Scotland. In the area there are other similar small sills and dikes. It is thought that these occurrences may be a part of the Ratagan complex situated about five miles to the west and on the other side of the northeast-trending Strathconon fault. The fault has lateral displacement of about three miles and is downthrown several thousand feet on the southeast. The igneous bodies on the east side may represent the first unroofing of the complex.
